French Culture: Food

Study French language through a focus on food. Learn practical French food and mealtime vocabulary by completing hands-on activities and engaging in interactive role play. We will set a table and "shop" at French speciality stores and markets. French phrases for, "I put..., I am missing..., I am going…, I need…, I buy..." will prove useful. After shopping, we will "eat" in a restaurant. Practice how to select a restaurant, make a reservation, order food, pay the bill, and leave a tip. As a final project we will reinforce vocabulary by making a French menu. Class will also view episodes of Julia Child's Joy of Cooking.
