Ukulele for Beginners

Learn to play the happiest instrument in the world! It has been said that it is impossible to play a ukulele and be sad. Students will learn basic music theory as it applies to the ukulele, simple chords, basic strums, and picking techniques. All musical genres will be explored from folk music to Hawaiian to jazz. We are sure that you will fall in love with this easy-to-play, beautiful instrument. Students must provide their own ukulele, tuner, and music stand. Effective Fall 2017, Ukulele for Beginners will only be taught during fall semesters.

Students must provide their own ukulele, tuners, and music stands. OLLI at UNLV Classes will not be held on the following dates: Friday, October 27th- Nevada Day; Friday, November 10th- Observance of Veteran's Day; Thursday, November 23rd- Thanksgiving Day; and Friday, November 24th- Family Day
