Body Systems and Ther Medical Terminology

When you head to the doctor's office or research aches and pains, it's helpful to know the basics of how your organ systems function and the key job each organ performs. Each week will focus on a single body system. Week 1: Integumentary System. The integumentary system consists of the skin, hair, nails, and exocrine glands. It acts as a barrier to the environment. Week 2: Respiratory System. The respiratory system consists of organs involved in the uptake of oxygen. Week 3: Circulatory System. The circulatory or cardiovascular system transports blood, oxygen, and nutrients around the body. Week 4: Nervous System. The nervous system coordinates voluntary and involuntary actions by transmitting signals to and from different parts of the body. Week 5: Review of covered systems in a bowl game format.
