UNLV Testing Services offers the ACT Residual exam throughout the year. Students who have not taken either the SAT or ACT can take the ACT Residual exam for placement into the appropriate Math and English courses as well as meet their Admission's Testing Requirement. Individuals who want to try to increase their test scores may also take this exam. UNLV students whose test scores are 18 months or older will be required to retake the ACT Residual exam for placement. For more information regarding the test, what to expect on the day of the test, as well as preparation materials, please visit: http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/ Please note that you do not need a ticket to attend the ACT-Residual Exam; however you do need to register and pay the registration fee via the Enroll Now link below.
Please note that the scores for this test are valid exclusively at UNLV and will not be sent to or recognized by other institutions.
Plan on arriving at the testing location at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. You will be admitted to the testing room promptly at 9am; late comers will not be admitted to the testing room and will not be allowed to take the exam. The exam consists of the following subjects: English (45 minutes), Mathematics (60 minutes), Reading (35 minutes) and Science (35 minutes). There will be a 10 minute break between the Mathematics and Reading exams. Please plan on spending at least 4 hours at the test location and plan on dressing in layers as the temperature in the testing room can vary. Plan on bringing acceptable photo ID and your NSHE ID number. You may bring an optional, acceptable calculator for the Mathematics exam (the exam can be completed without a calculator).
All students, staff, faculty and visitors who wish to park on one of the UNLV Campuses are required to obtain and display parking permits. All requests for rescheduling and\or cancelling the testing appointment must be made in writing and must be received at least three business days before the test date. A $10 administrative fee will be assessed on all cancellation requests. Refunds will not be issued after the test date. Students may opt to transfer their registration to another testing date - this option will only be honored once and must be submitted in writing on or before the original test date.
