Countries, Cultures, and Current Issues New

The course previously known as Geopolitical Realities continues under its new name with a journey through western Russia and central Asia. Countries for this semester include Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. There will be an overview of each country or region including geography, history, culture, language, ethnicities, religion, government, economy, natural resources, health, social systems, demographics, political tensions, alliances, and topics of special interest. Content is taught via PowerPoint presentations supplemented by maps, relevant articles, discussion, and contributions of class members.
