Philosophies of Asia: Taoism and Buddhism New

Explore the histories and primary beliefs of Taoist and Buddhist philosophies. Participants will have the opportunity to experience basic practices such as meditation and Qi gung. The classes on Taoism will include history, origin of the universe, five element theory, types of energy, meditation and ritual, the roots of traditional medicine, and other topics. Classes on Buddhism will include history, Four Noble Truths, Eight Fold Path, karma, reincarnation, and additional topics. Every class will include an opportunity to experience the practice of Qi gung (working with the Qi energy of the body) or meditation. Participation is encouraged and a reading list will be provided for those interested in further exploration.
