Write Like a Journalist New

Sharpen your writing skills as your learn how to identify news, develop story angles, humanize stories, and write compelling leads to hook reader interest like a journalist. This class advances the skill sets of beginning writers and bloggers as well as marketing and public relations professionals who want to better understand the mindset of the media and journalistic style. Identify the differences between hard news, feature stories, entertaining narratives, personal commentary, and editorial columns. Understand what it takes to pitch a freelance story, apply storytelling techniques to other communication material, and/or submit an effective letter to the editor. While this class builds on skills introduced in Writing Across Communication, there is no prerequisite to enroll.
