The UNLV Certificate in Investing in Early Stage Companies (Angel Investing) will cover a broad range of topics on how to make wiser choices in private equity investments. Skills acquired from this program will teach you how to identify potential investment opportunities and how to properly execute an investment in an early-stage company.

Introduction into Angel Investing (January 27th)
Instructed by: Bill Payne

Discover who angel investors are, what they do, and if angel investing is a good fit for you. This session will cover how to develop portfolio strategies and how to evaluate potential deals. Also learn about resources that are available in the Las Vegas community and different opportunities to connect with other like-minded individuals.

Valuation of Early Stage Ventures (January 29th)
Instructed by: Bill Payne

Knowing how much a company is truly worth is a critical component and something you need to know before making an investment. This class will introduce multiple ways a company can be valued to gain a better understanding of its true worth.

Due Diligence (February 3rd)
Instructed by: Mark Brennan

Learn how to minimize risk by properly analyzing specific deals before you invest. Learn how to set a solid due diligence process and how to recognize red flags in a deal. This session will give you a solid checklist of areas to consider before taking on any investment opportunity.

Structuring the Deal (Term Sheets) (February 5th)
Instructed by: Bryan Clark

Discover what a term sheet is and why you need one before making an investment in any company. In this session, you will cover multiple ways a deal can be structured, how to avoid common pitfalls, tax implications, and common terms you need to know.

Post-Investment Engagement by Investors (February 10th)
Instructed by: Bill Botts

What do you do after you have invested your money? This session with discuss the responsibilities of the board and the investors. Other topics will cover follow-on funding and how to plan and execute an exit in an investment.

Pitching Session (February 12th)
Instructed by: Bill Payne

Take your skills and the knowledge you have acquired and put it to the test. This course will allow you the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge you have received in a controlled environment. Receive feedback and instruction from experienced coaches and increase ability to analyze potential investment opportunities.

Requests for refunds received at least two (2) working days prior to the start of the program or course will be refunded less a $35 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after the start of the course. Paid registrations can be transferred to another person with prior approval of the CFE.
