Women Making Art History

Because women artists have for too long been overlooked in the study of art history, this course will examine the work of five women artist starting with Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun who painted portraits of Marie Antoinette in the 1700s to contemporary artist Faith Ringgold who is known for her story quilts. This course is a one hour lecture. During each class meeting, we will look at images of each artist's work and also discuss the time period in which she lived and created. No previous art experience required; just bring your curiosity.
