Jennifer Lizares is a full-time instructor in the Paralegal Certificate Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, bringing over a decade of hands-on legal experience in personal injury and family law.
Before entering the legal profession, Jennifer completed three years of trade school training to become a Union Ironworker and advanced to the role of Ironworker Foreman—leading, planning, and overseeing structural steel erection, safety compliance, and crew coordination on construction projects. She contributed to major projects that helped shape the Las Vegas skyline,
including work on the High Roller observation wheel. Her experience in a demanding, precision-driven industry developed the leadership, discipline, and accountability that now define her teaching approach.
Jennifer transitioned into the legal field after navigating legal matters pro se and developing a strong interest in legal advocacy. She began her legal career as a legal secretary and quickly advanced to managing personal injury caseloads. Over the past decade, she has worked extensively in both personal injury and family law, gaining practical experience in litigation support, case management, and client relations.
Committed to professional growth, Jennifer enrolled in UNLV’s Paralegal Program to strengthen her legal foundation. Upon completion, she was invited to serve as a teaching assistant and later assumed the role of instructor. Having experienced the program from multiple perspectives, she
is dedicated to equipping students with practical, job-ready skills and a clear understanding of professional expectations within the legal field.
Jennifer is currently pursuing a degree in psychology at UNLV, further enhancing her understanding of human behavior and its intersection with the legal system. Outside the classroom, she enjoys staying active and managing youth programs, sports teams, and community clubs.
A Kansas native and Las Vegas resident since 1998, Jennifer values family, resilience, and lifelong learning — principles she brings into the classroom every day. |
