T. Clay Buck, CFRE
Clay has been a professional fundraiser since 1990 and is currently the Director of Membership and Annual Giving at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, NV. Having worked as both a frontline fundraiser and as a consultant, Clay has worked with, and for, nonprofits across the country in the performing arts, social services, secondary and higher education and healthcare. He was the Vice President of Client Services for IDC, Ltd and the Vice President of Consulting Services for Harris Connect (now part of TrueSense Marketing). As a Senior Consultant for WealthEngine he authored the three-part workbook and training series, “The Data Driven Annual Fund.”
A frequent presenter and trainer at conferences and workshops, Clay’s focus is on donor-centered, relationship-driven fundraising with individuals, grounded in solid data techniques – which he frequently blogs about on The Annual Fund Lab (www.annualfundlab.com). He has presented on using wealth intelligence in the annual fund and major gifts at the national APRA conference and on data-inspired fundraising at the AFP International conference. Clay has worked directly with donors, and has consulted on, all aspects of fundraising including annual giving, major gifts and capital and endowment campaigns.
Clay serves on the Advisory Council of Rogare, the international fundraising think tank housed at the University of Plymouth Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy and is the current president of the Las Vegas chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He holds a B.A. in theater from the University of Georgia and a Masters of Fine Arts from Michigan State University. Clay and his family live in Las Vegas, NV where he is owned by two Labrador retrievers and he is a proud member of the Leadership Las Vegas class of 2017.
