This course provides the student an understanding of body alignment with an emphasis on dance flexibility and muscle tone, including the importance of breath patterns while activating muscles during stretch or contraction. Also explore basic theory of muscle physiology including how muscles contract and stretch. This course will cover both the theory and the physical aspects of improving muscle tone and flexibility. This course will provide information on both eccentric and concentric contractions and the difference between cold and warm stretches. Students may also enroll for university credit in DAN 110 for 1 credit.
