This course creates an interactive experience for students to build muscle groups and study the basic concepts of injury as applied to these muscle groups, immediate care of dance injuries and the accelerated rehabilitation, and safe return to activity. Students will explore the prevention and care of dance injury, including the three major topic areas of overuse, joint instability, and impingement and compression. The course also includes learning basic postural techniques and exercise forms that can help in the identification and prevention of specific injury. Students may also enroll for university credit in DAN 451 for 3 credits.
