Specialty Courts are treatment courts within the judicial system. Drug courts, youth courts, DUI courts, mental health courts, veterans courts, habitual offender courts and other specialty programs are structured, collaborative interventions where offenders can get treatment, gain life skills, and avoid repeat offenses. Develop an understanding of best practices for working with justice-involved individuals such as trauma-informed and focused treatment, the importance of risk needs assessments, addressing criminogenic needs, and addressing mental health and substance abuse within the justice system. This course is approved for 3 CEUs by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, Nevada Board of Examiners for MFTs and CPCs, and the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.
