Sequential Art I (The Graphic Novel)

Focus on the process of creating a paneled structured story (graphic novels, comic books, and manga). Working with a script, students will study visual storytelling, panel structure, emotive drawing, and continuity. Students will be instructed in creating a five page graphic story, by scripting, creating thumbnails and roughing out the five page sequence. For the final, students will choose one of the five pages and follow it throughout the drawing, inking and coloring process to produce a ready for print page. The class will also cover preparing and exporting a graphic story for print. David Dace is a professional educator and freelance artist with over 20 years experience in traditional and digital illustration. He specializes in sequential art and story based illustration, with extensive experience in design, layout, logo, and package designs.
