Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital of the world, also known for its high-end fashions, uniforms, costumes, and showroom designs. This basic introduction class will cover topics of the costumier, costume, and construction, with focus on the 50’s era. Learn about costume designing for stage, theater, and film. Students work on weekly projects to develop their skills in color, proportion, history, and character. Learn to apply knowledge of costume fabric, coordinating color and texture, while monitoring quality, size and fit, altering, and sewing for costume designing. Learn about how costume design uses the texture, color, style, and other properties of clothing to express aspects of the costume designer. This class places an emphasis on the knowledge and use of both historical and current pattern cutting, construction, and finishing techniques. Costume designers focus mainly on making costume designing for entertainment, theatrical plays, productions, and events. Project: 50’s era costume design.
