How did infectious diseases gain entry to new populations and geographical areas? Since 1970 about 40 new infectious diseases have been discovered. This course will help you to understand where these come from and why they recur. We will take a historical viewpoint to look back at the history of humans and how that has impacted infectious diseases while also considering how pathogens evolve to infect humans. While the syllabus has been outlined it is open to change according to particular interest of the students.
