The COVID pandemic caused a significant disruption in society. While we were dealing with a new and evolving virus, poor communications from political and public health leaders contributed to the uncertainty. A lack of understanding of the principles of epidemiology at all levels of society exacerbated the problem. This course's purpose is to provide a better understanding of the factors that contribute to the spread of a disease in a community and to work through the steps in evaluating hazards and determining risks. An important takeaway from the course will be the understanding of how we can attribute an outcome to a specific cause.
