Arthur Miller is considered one of the greatest American playwrights of the 20th Century. His plays combine explorations of complex social issues with a deep psychological understanding of his character's struggles. The class will focus on five of his most well known plays: All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, The Price, and The View From The Bridge, as well as some glances at Miller's lesser known works. Class sessions will consist of information about the historical events and personal experiences that influenced Miller's writing, watching and/or reading the plays, and discussions of the themes, and the relevance of each play to our lives today.
