From the end of the Civil War (1865) to the end of the nineteenth century settlers moved west. Towns began to spring up as the transcontinental railroad was finished (1869). Cattle was moved from Texas to rail heads in Kansas for shipment east. Cowboys drove cattle, there were clashes with Indians. Not all cowboys are good and not all Indians were savages. This class will look at both and how their interactions helped expand the country.
