What did you have for breakfast this morning, and where did it come from? Imagine that we're sitting down to a breakfast of eggs topped with salt and pepper, potatoes with garlic cooked in olive oil, toast with butter, and tea with sugar. This course will focus on how these ten ingredients came to be on our menu. We'll examine the long and winding history of these food items, many of which changed the course of human history. Our journey will span the entire world and cover famine, war, slavery, taxes, and empires. And by the end, we'll have answered that crucial human question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
