Age on Stage: Plays About Old Folks….About Us?

There are no scheduled sessions at this time. Sign up to be notified when this course is available.

How have playwrights written about us seniors? Are their portraits insightful or stereotypes? Three dimensional or cliche? Are they mostly light and comical or deep and meaningful? Do they deal with both the joys and the challenges of growing old? This course will look at a set of plays, mostly Pulitzer and Tony award winners, whose main characters are in their golden years. Some are funny, I’m Not Rappaport by Herb Gardener. Some are serious, Three Tall Women by Edward Albee. And some are both, The Gin Game by D.L. Coburn. You will watch videos of some of the plays, read others together, and there will be lots of discussing.
