"America's Election System" has been offered before so some material will be familiar. Much of our election process has changed dramatically since 2016. We'll discuss newly passed state laws and hostile court decisions that have dismantled federal protections, expanded state legislatures’ rights to overturn election results and replace elected officials and, in some cases, criminalized mistakes by election officials. This class will serve as a reality check on the health of our election system amid persistent claims that our system is corrupt and our Democracy is endangered. We won’t shy away from controversy, but as always courtesy, respect and open minds will be on full display.
