Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certificate Preparation

Learn the foundational knowledge to start providing peer recovery support to those struggling with mental health or substance use disorders, including the core competencies of peer support in the four domains of advocacy, mentoring and education, recovery and wellness support, and ethical responsibility. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about providing recovery-oriented support through self-disclosure and mutual-identification, assisting those they serve in identifying and building on strengths, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques, person-centered recovery planning within the eight dimensions of wellness, and ethical decision making in the peer role. This training is being offered through Foundation for Recovery, one of two approved training institutions, and is the first step in attaining a PRSS Certification through the Nevada Certification Board.
