Consider the specialized trauma assessment and intervention needs of the first responder population to include police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and healthcare staff. Cover trauma assessment and diagnosis through the lens of a first responder. Additionally, discuss the neurological impacts of trauma and better understand the healing process. Gain insight on forms of trauma, behavioral changes, perspective shifts, and impacts on a first responder’s operational and organizational duties. Topics and materials will include behavioral health conditions for first responders, history and impact of trauma diagnosis and treatment, risk and protective factors, and needed interventions to work with trauma diagnoses with first responder populations. This course is approved for 3 CEUs by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, Nevada Board of Examiners for MFTs and CPCs, and the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.
