The Civic Engagement Leadership Academy (CELA) combines UNLV faculty curriculum development expertise with existing community-based programming to amplify the work of Teaching and Uniting Ladies to Inspire Positive Success (T.U.L.I.P.S.). As an extension of T.U.L.I.P.S.'s "Squad Goals to the Polls" initiative, CELA will educate high school youth (gender inclusive) about the agency young people have to impact policy. Weekly sessions will focus on defining civic engagement, knowing your elected officials, understanding community needs, researching solutions to community issues, and taking civic action. The culminating activity will be a social action media campaign designed and executed by youth in the program.
