1960's Rock & Roll: the Greatest or Grooviest Decade of Music? (Maryland/Hybrid)

This class will explore the decade of Rock music development and greatest artists 1960-1969. From the 1960's giving birth to England's Beatles, Rolling Stones and many others, thru America's great East and West Coast groups like Beach Boys, the Byrds, Simon and Garfunkle, and ending the decade with the emergence of psychedelic and progressive bands. You will explore what the great innovators created, the influences one group made on others, and include discussions of the instruments used and recording studios involved making this decade so vital to our musical culture and heritage. You will enjoy sounds you may remember and cherish, and hopefully some new or unfamiliar ones too!
