Public health exists to protect you and your community from disease. Currently, trust in public health is at a low ebb. In some states, vaccination rates are so low that measles are once again a serious problem. In this class, you’ll explore why trust in public health has declined and why it still matters. You'll examine how misinformation, poor communication, and other factors contribute to the spread of disease. The recent experience with the COVID pandemic provides examples of what not to do. Poor communication from political and public health leaders created confusion and interfered with control efforts. You will learn the steps to evaluate hazards and determine risks. Which will better prepare you to protect yourself from harms in the future.
