Both historical and sobering views of financial market crashes will be presented, spanning centuries with an emphasis on the modern era. These events have destroyed wealth and influenced both national and geopolitical landscapes. Not surprisingly, the business and financial news media often give limited attention to such topics. This course will also include a unique investigative look at the 2007–2008 crash, as well as the rise of algorithmic and quantitative trading on Wall Street. This is not an investment seminar; it is primarily historical and intended for a broad audience.
