Women of the Blue & Gray: True Civil War Stories (Maryland)

Powerful and eye-opening, this class gives you a chance to hear the voices of women who lived through America’s greatest conflict. You’ll uncover incredible true stories of women—North and South, Black, white, Native American, immigrant, and more—who disguised themselves to fight, kept journals of major events, advised generals on strategy, organized fundraising, worked in factories, smuggled medicine across enemy lines, engaged in acts of espionage, and held their families together. These stories matter and deserve to be shared, helping you gain a deeper understanding of a war that still shapes our national identity.
