This class will be a timeline of the Vietnam era, beginning with French control from about 1945-1954. The Geneva Accords of 1954 mark the division of Vietnam. We will examine after the U.S. advisors arrive gradually from 1955 to 1963 and look into the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964, as the turning point. U.S. Advisors shifted into full combat roles which escalated tensions through he late 1960's.
